Acquisto Silver - Shell Dish

Well, I did go to the Seattle Miniature Show this morning! Much smaller (no pun intended) than the last show I went to about twenty years ago, but it was also in a different location. Lots of energy and excitement in the air. Bryn was nice enough to accompany me. I had forgotten to get some cash beforehand, so I didn't buy some of the pottery I was eyeing. But I did buy a piece I have loved for years and years. A tiny little Pete Acquisto shell dish in sterling silver. That was the only thing I brought home with me today, but I love it.

I'm hopeful that the Seattle show will continue to grow again and attract more dealers. There were a good amount of dealers there, but I didn't see as much furniture as I would have liked. If I was doing something period (Victorian, Regency, Edwardian, etc) I'm sure I would have found something, but there was very little that could be contemporary, and even less that was of the quality I'm looking for. And I'm trying not to buy too many accessories at this point, so I just figured I'd invest in one really nice piece today.

I still might head down to my local miniature store this afternoon. I have a hankering for some new magazines. Of course, the sun is out and it is a lovely spring day in Seattle, which means that I'll have to fight for parking to get to the store. It is right on Alki Beach and the crowds do flock there when it is nice out. Still, I think it is worth a trip to get some sun, a nice walk perhaps, and the latest copy of Miniature Collector.

  1. Hi Vivian! I was at the Seattle Show and compared to last year's show, it
was a whole lot BIGGER and Lots more Fun as well!. It was very encouraging to see the difference only one year has made, which is good news for all of us who wait all year for Big Shows like this one.
Your Sterling Silver Shell Dish is EXQUISITE!!!! I like the idea of buying just One Fabulous Piece and you chose a good one! The weather was perfect for the Seattle Show and it looked like a good turnout too, however Sunday was a lot quieter than Saturday was, probably because many like you said, were at the Beach.
    Enjoy your new treasure! :D

    1. I think you may have me confused with someone else (as I'm not Vivian), but glad you liked the show and thought it had improved so much over last year! I'm loving my new piece, glad that I made it a good one.

    2. So Sorry, because Yes I do know another "Vivian" Fox! :D But while I am at it, I must tell you that I was looking at the sofa that you ordered and I LOVE IT as well as the new kitchen appliances that you show a little later. I hope that you are making steady progress with your Denise Kit. I read your proposal and I am Excited to see how you will combine the 2 kits!

  2. It's strange but I've noticed a smaller turnout of both sellers and visitors to the shows I attend even though there are more miniature blogs popping up everywhere. I too wish there were more modern. It's practically the whole reason I started making them myself because there is such a shortage. Glad you had a good time and the dish is lovely =0)

    1. Perhaps as more folks are looking for modern, they will start making more? Although I do like that it forces more creativity... and more self-made pieces.

  3. Unfortunately, we don't have much luck with modern at the shows in the Midwest either.
